This tour will take you over an old C-47D aircraft West of the village of Haines Junction. The story of this plane crash is quite remarkable. The plane crashed in 1950 during a search for a missing airplane. The 10 men on board all survived and walked out. The condition of the aircraft is remarkable. Covered in snow for most of the year, everything, inside and out is in exceptionally good condition. Snow and ice driven by winds even keep much of the aluminum polished to a high gloss.
The tour operator has a few options: if you wish to not only fly over the area, you could combine your flight with a short hike in that area, enjoy a picnic in that stunning area or walk to the crashed plane and take pictures.
Important to note that very often you can see a “herd of caribou grazing on the mountain side” and on a clear day Mount Logan will show itself with all of it’s 5959 Meters of glory. It is an incroyable tour.
